STLCC Sophomore Pitcher Named Region XVI Pitcher of the Week

St. Louis Community College (STLCC) is thrilled to announce that sophomore pitcher Matt Brown has been selected as the Region XVI Pitcher of the Week. This accolade comes after a week of outstanding performances, including two complete game victories in Region XVI play.

In the game against Jefferson, Brown delivered a stellar performance, allowing only 4 hits and two earned runs while striking out 15 batters. He also contributed significantly at the plate with 4 hits, one run, and one RBI. Head Coach Scott Goodrich praised Brown's performance, stating, "Matt Brown was exceptional on the mound against Jefferson. His poise under pressure, especially in the final innings, anchored our team to victory. His dominance extended beyond pitching, as he also played a crucial role in our batting lineup with a key RBI."

In the matchup against St. Charles, Brown continued to showcase his talent. In 7 innings, he scattered 8 St. Charles hits and allowed 3 earned runs. He was also clutch at the plate with 3 at bats, one hit, one run, and one RBI. Coach Goodrich added, "Brown persevered through seven innings against St. Charles, skillfully managing eight hits and conceding just three runs to secure his first win of the season. His performance was effectively supported by a solid defensive display, which avoided any errors."

Athletic Director Sharon Marquardt also expressed her pride in Brown's achievements, saying, "M. Brown's selection as Region XVI Pitcher of the Week is a testament to his hard work, dedication, and exceptional talent. He has been a key player for our team, and we are incredibly proud of his accomplishments. We look forward to seeing him continue to excel both on the mound and at the plate."
