Levesque and Gereau Named to the Region 16 First Team
St. Louis Community College is proud to announce that men's soccer standouts Mathieu Levesque and Giuseppe Gereau have been named to the Region 16 First Team, recognizing their exceptional performance, dedication, and versatility throughout the season.
Mathieu Levesque, a dynamic midfielder with one goal and one assist, earned First Team honors for his relentless work ethic and intense style of play. Known as the hardest-working midfielder on the field, Levesque's tenacity allows him to press opponents and cover ground at an impressive level. Despite his smaller stature, Levesque's powerful and consistent presence has been critical to STLCC's strategy.
Joining Levesque on the First Team is Giuseppe Gereau, who has shown remarkable adaptability by stepping into the center-back role after an early-season injury left the Archers short in defense. Gereau scored five goals and added one assist, often converting opportunities on set pieces with his strong positioning and awareness. Coach Garza praised Gereau's impact, stating, "Giuseppe has stepped in and done the job at a high level. He is the heart and soul of our team, consistently giving his all and never coming off the field."
Bruno Miserendino was also recognized with Second Team All-Region honors for his outstanding contributions at both left and right back. His versatility, technical skill, and tactical awareness have allowed STLCC to build effectively from the back and adjust their pressing strategy as needed. Coach Garza highlighted Miserendino's soccer IQ and two-way capabilities, which have strengthened the team's defensive and offensive adaptability.
The Archers' season concluded in the second round of the Region 16 semi-finals, where they faced a formidable St. Charles team. While the season ended sooner than hoped, STLCC men's soccer displayed resilience, skill, and heart, with Levesque, Gereau, and Miserendino exemplifying the team's core values and commitment to excellence.
